Independent snow and weather reporting from the Nozawa Onsen region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 1cm
Snowfall at base this season 700cm

Posted on Sunday 8th April 2018 This is an archived report. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here.

Good morning from Nozawa.

Reports of snow and indeed sightings of snow! :)

I have just come back from a walk around the base of the resort. A lovely brisk early Sunday morning walk, and fairly chilly conditions as well. Nice. I also notice the resort have uploaded a photo from the ski jump area near base - see below for that.

There's not a huge amount of snow of course, but it is always great to see fresh on the ground. Love it. The resort itself is recording 5cm at the top Yamabiko area of the resort and no other numbers, but I would be mistaken not to log at least 1cm this morning from the snow we got by base.

So, that reported 5cm up top should provide some nicely improved conditions first thing this morning and early tracks should be rewarded.

Temperatures will probably start rising once again from tomorrow.
