Independent snow and weather reporting from the Nozawa Onsen region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 2cm
Snowfall at base this season 17cm

Posted on Saturday 7th December 2013 This is an archived report. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here.

10cm of fresh snow on the top Yamabiko runs this morning to report from Nozawa, with thin layer down at base as well - just almost covering up the ground from about 650m upwards. Snow is forecast for the day, so here's hoping that we can get as much out of it as possible. It probably won't rise much over 0 degrees here for the day, with Yamabiko recording temps of -5 degrees as of 7:30am this morning.

It doesn't look like there's any change to lift operations and course openings just yet. No doubt the resort is as keen as we are to open up more!

Looking ahead, the forecast for Wednesday into Thursday in looking particularly encouraging. Before that though we can expect milder temperatures again early week.
