Independent snow and weather reporting from the Nozawa Onsen region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 6cm
Snowfall at base this season 595cm

Posted on Tuesday 6th February 2018 This is an archived report. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here.

The sun is out!

I thought it might be snowing this morning, but the light snow overnight has eased off and clouds have mostly cleared - other than some low cloud remaining - and the sun is shining down on us.

The resort is reporting 10-15cm of fresh snow on the upper slopes and up to 5cm in lower areas.

Forecasts seem to be saying different things and I'm certainly no expert (no chuckling please).

So I'm going to sit tight and see what develops. Actually, no, I think I'll get my gear on and head up to the Yamabiko area. ;)
