Independent snow and weather reporting from the Nozawa Onsen region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 2cm
Snowfall at base this season 544cm

Posted on Sunday 2nd March 2014 This is an archived report. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here.

Fresh snow! Not huge amounts but fresh snow all the same. Up to 5cm on upper slopes and just a sprinkling to few cm down at base. Good to see some fresh snow on the trees as well this morning. It has eased off for the moment and it's a cloudy morning. Visibility generally ok but poor in places on the mountain.

And you know what, if some forecasts are to be believed, things are looking fairly promising this coming week, especially around Wednesday/Thursday when we could be blessed by some decent snowfall and much colder winter-like conditions.

Official snow depths:

Yamabiko - 305cm

Uenotaira - 245cm

Hikage - 155cm

Nagasaka - 150cm

Karasawa - 110cm
