The snow that some neighbouring regions seem to have got (hello, Yuzawa) didn't really hit Nozawa yesterday and overnight with just dustings really since yesterday.
Cloudy skies this morning but there are some signs of breaks in the cloud at the moment.
All lifts are go!
Should be a good weekend.
This morning the official site shows 2cm of snowfall on the top Yamabiko area since 3pm yesterday... and 20cm across base areas. That is clearly not correct. We are all allowed mistakes from time to time, of course. Even Naski. I don't know what is going on with the numbers at the moment, but hope they sort it out quickly. For the moment I'm taking that info off my report, but I'll keep an eye on it. I can only be confused so much!
Update at 10am:
The snowfall numbers seem to have been fixed up! 1-3cm (bottom-top) of snow reported since yesterday afternoon through 8am, with another 1cm in top areas added 8am-10am this morning. (I'll cover that last bit tomorrow).
Fresh snowfall since yesterday afternoon until 8am (reported by the ski area):
Yamabiko: 2cm
Uenotaira: 3cm
Hikage: 1cm
Nagasaka: 1cm
Karasawa: 0cm
Official snow depth numbers (reported by the ski area):
Yamabiko: 210cm
Uenotaira: 160cm
Hikage: 90cm
Nagasaka: 70cm
Karasawa: 55cm
