Independent snow and weather reporting from the Nozawa Onsen region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 5cm
Snowfall at base this season 98cm

Posted on Tuesday 25th December 2018 This is an archived report. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here.

Good morning from Nozawa.

And Happy Christmas! I spotted Santa on some skis yesterday talking with our favourite skiing vegetable Nozawa mascot, Nasuki. Good to see them getting along.

The resort is reporting 3-5cm of fresh snowfall overnight on the mountain, in addition to the 5-13cm of snow that they reported during the daytime yesterday. I'm measuring just a bit since my report yesterday. It is always good to report numbers, but these are not big numbers. But we are probably not going to have to wait much longer to enjoy some much bigger numbers and the bigsnow fun should be starting from tomorrow night. Don't worry if it is a bit wet at first, the last part of the week and the weekend is set to be very snowy indeed. Excellent.

For the moment the sun is out and it's a fine (and cold) Christmas morning.
