Independent snow and weather reporting from the Nozawa Onsen region of Nagano
New snowfall at base 4cm
Snowfall at base this season 11cm
Posted on Tuesday 20th December 2022 This is an archived report. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here.
It is good to see a covering of snow on the ground outside the Nagasaka gondola and other base areas this morning. It's not a large amount, for sure, but there is something reassuring about the whiteness.
The ski area is reporting 5-8cm of fresh snowfall on upper levels since yesterday.
Seeing stories of heavy snow (and trouble caused by it) in some areas of Niigata not too far away and comparing that with the weather we got yesterday was just a bit too 'does not compute'!
So we don't expect much today and tomorrow (maybe a sunny day tomorrow), but snow is back on the forecasts after that.
Heavy snow for Christmas, please!
