Independent snow and weather reporting from the Nozawa Onsen region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 4cm
Snowfall at base this season 667cm

Posted on Wednesday 10th February 2021 This is an archived report. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here.

Good morning from Nozawa.

We got some blue skies later in the day yesterday as that snow eased off. The ski area was reporting 8cm of fresh on the upper slopes by 3pm and just a sprinkling more overnight.

This morning the day starts with some sunshine. There is some cloud hanging on but blue skies and sun. It should be a fine day - both in terms of weather and snow conditions. It will get milder and into low positive temps at base but hopefully not too much.

There might be some snow overnight again and then cloud/perhaps sun for tomorrow. Tomorrow is a national holiday in Japan.

Fresh snowfall recorded by the resort (since yesterday morning):

- Yamabiko (1407m): 9cm

- Uenotaira (1230m): 10cm

- Hikage (660m): 2cm

- Nagasaka (615m): 2cm

- Karasawa (563m): 0cm
