New snowfall at base 7cm
Snowfall at base this season 783cm
Posted on Tuesday 7th February 2023 This is an archived report. The latest Niseko Now report can be found here
Well, we thought we might see a break in the run of snowfall numbers... but no! I have 7cm of overnight fresh snowfall to report to you this morning. Hanazono are reporting 10-15cm (and Hirafu aren't reporting just yet so I can't update those). It's not enough for a reset, but definitely better than 0cm.
As the ski areas prepare to open at 8:30am, there is cloud around but blue sky too. It doesn't feel windy out there.
All lifts should be moving as planned and all gates should be open.
All is good. It should be another fine morning.

Annupuri 1100m: -11.8℃, W7.7m/s, light development of snowdrifts and good visibility. Mizuno no Sawa top: -10.4C, NW3.3m/s. Hirafu Hanazono: -11.7C, WNW2.3m/s. Hanazono#3: -8.1C, N4.4m/s. The atmospheric pressure gradient is flat, calm weather over the sea and the mountains with light snowfall. The overall avalanche risk is low according to the morning observations and reports from ski patrols and cat operators. All gates are scheduled to open from the morning. Carrying avalanche beacons is not mandatory, however is strongly recommended. They may save your life as well as your friends’. The mountain is tracked out but the snow remains good. Beware of cracks and hitting trees. Have a nice day.
