Independent snow and weather reporting from the Niseko region of Hokkaido

New snowfall at base 17cm
Snowfall at base this season 52cm

Posted on Sunday 19th November 2017 This is an archived report. The latest Niseko Now report can be found here

Yesterday temperatures rose slightly and it was a bit wet around the feet down here at village level, though surely continuing to snow higher up on the mountain. That rain in the morning turned into snow down here too though and as we approach 9am, I have another 17cm of fresh snow to report from base. Not bad at all!

And it's cold too.

Just how much snow has been falling at higher elevations is something we can very much look forward to checking come Thursday. I have a few friends who have wrapped up and taken a hike up there and were rather excited about it. As you would.

The forecast is still looking very tasty as well and feeling rather confident of a flying start to the ski season.
