Independent snow and weather reporting from the Myoko region of Niigata

New snowfall at base 35cm
Snowfall at base this season 625cm

Posted on Friday 8th January 2021 This is an archived report. The latest Myoko Now report can be found here.

Not as much snow as I was hoping in this new storm cycle, but a lot of wind out there.

Not too crazy at base here, but enough to close the freeway down from Niigata City all the way here. Lots of blowing snow out there, but we didn't really see a lot of drifting and blowing this morning.

The snow had pretty much stopped early in the morning, but it's coming down again nicely, accompanied by a light W/SW wind.
