New snowfall at base 31cm
Snowfall at base this season 894cm
Posted on Monday 4th March 2024 This is an archived report. The latest Myoko Now report can be found here.
March is coming in like January, or at least the Januarys we used to know, with more good snow, and some of the lightest snow to fall this season.
Not a lot of wind, which is appreciated (we definitely had some sketchy conditions in the backcountry over the last week, and it wasn't just here, as we saw in both Nagano and Tottori). Be smart if you do venture off the trails—have avalanche gear, go with friends and be aware that a small sluff (which could certainly happen with this snow) could get a lot worse if you happen to slide with the snow into a tight valley, or into trees.... That's the warning for the day, but the bigger message is to get out and enjoy some most excellent snow.
