It turned pretty nice for most of the morning yesterday; in the afternoon, rain came to Joetsu, down by the coast (I escaped long enough to buy some coffee — gotta have fuel for the next storm cycle, which is coming shortly). Nice, light snow fell overnight and is still falling now. Nice, snowflake-flakes, but once again deep and unsettled. Be really careful in ungroomed, deep places, as we have had one bad accident already with someone going upside down into deep, soft stuff.
As mentioned in my coffee aside, the national weather forecast tells us we will be slammed over the next few days, with snowfall of 70cm to one meter. I will take a photo of the ruler poking the official board to officially confirm the early morning depth. Don't expect the ski areas to quickly add on a lot of new snow, though; I always think they probably are a bit hesitant about scaring off your recreational skier who does not delight in snow over one's boots....Ha
