Independent snow and weather reporting from the Myoko region of Niigata

New snowfall at base 0cm
Snowfall at base this season 1090cm

Posted on Sunday 3rd May 2026 This is an archived report. The latest Myoko Now report can be found here.

I haven’t heard any official word on when Lotte Arai plans to close, but based on reports from people who’ve been there that the days are numbered. I guess they had hoped to stay open until the 10th, but it’s already really marginal. The website notes that skiers will have to hike up to the Zendana area, and that dirt and rocks are now appearing across the slope.

The Myokokogen Sky Cable gondola is open (it closed yesterday in the high winds) for non-snow activities.
