Independent snow and weather reporting from the Myoko region of Niigata

New snowfall at base 41cm
Snowfall at base this season 220cm

Posted on Tuesday 3rd January 2023 This is an archived report. The latest Myoko Now report can be found here.

More snow overnight, it's still falling (heavy tonight?), some blue skies are almost peeking out - a nice early-2023 day in Myoko.

Found a few thin spots high up on the mountain yesterday, and it's still really bushy for those thinking about going backcountry, but it's early in the year, and everything is going in the right direction!

Oh, and I might have to apologize (not sure what happened, really); I finished yesterday's report rather early, thought I had pushed the send button, then came back in the afternoon to see the form still up and waiting for me.... Maybe you got two reports (sorry); maybe you got a very late report (sorry); maybe there was no problem at all (you're welcome).
