Independent snow and weather reporting from the Myoko region of Niigata

New snowfall at base 42cm
Snowfall at base this season 908cm

Posted on Tuesday 3rd February 2026 This is an archived report. The latest Myoko Now report can be found here.

A late start to the day (actually, a really early start with way too much to do. But it got done. And happy to share that with you).

A really nice snowfall overnight; big flakes, not too much wind and just enough depth to recharge the mountain a bit. I’ve been surprised this year with how many Europeans and North Americans are visiting Myoko. Some first-time countries for me here, including both some Bulgarians and a friendly pair of Croats. Welcome, nice to talk to you, glad that you were all having a nice time in the snow.

And fresh reports from all the resorts! That's pretty unusual, but I also found it interesting that some have had no change in snow depth or temperatures for days, others lost some snow, others gained. We got more snow, but you couldn’t guess from the different changes from the day before.
