Snowfall at base this season 866cm

A little milder temperatures today; we’re supposed to get snow but the sun has just now decided to come out. There’s still a lot of snow hanging on the roofs and in the trees. Lots to plow away to make way for the next big snow (will it be tomorrow or not?).
We've had a pretty high avalanche danger with lots of snow coming very quickly, but I’m pleased to see at the Japan Avalanche Network’s website that we no longer lead the country in risk (a number one I’m happy not to have). Give deep fresh snow a few days here and, thanks to the mild and consistent temperatures, it settles pretty well. Don’t get complacent, though, kids; travel with a friend, have all the gear (and knowledge).
For me, I’m risking it all trying to get my roof to come down so the next fall doesn’t result in an avalanche onto the road! Not being that risky, really, just carefully carving away at the mounds of snow with the trusty Peter (snowthrower). Kind of exciting when that roof does decide to slide....
