Independent snow and weather reporting from the Myoko region of Niigata

New snowfall at base 5cm
Snowfall at base this season 541cm

Posted on Tuesday 30th December 2014 This is an archived report. The latest Myoko Now report can be found here.

Another snow cycle has moved in, with some nice stuff falling from about 7:30 this morning. It's a pretty common pattern: some sunny skies, a day of light rain, then things get colder and the snow starts to fall. When we really get into January I hope the other main weather pattern—snow all the time—kicks in!

I'm just reporting 5cm of fresh so far; there will be more during the day; at the moment the rate has picked up to where we might get 2cm or more per hour.

So a really good ski day, as we move toward the end of 2014. A little loss of snowpack after sun and then rain, but we're getting a good refill at the moment.
