Independent snow and weather reporting from the Myoko region of Niigata

New snowfall at base 5cm
Snowfall at base this season 863cm

Posted on Sunday 2nd March 2014 This is an archived report. The latest Myoko Now report can be found here.

Back in the snow column today. Not a lot, but it's better than rain and declining snowpack!

The temperatures being reported are interesting, though: Seki Onsen says it was -5, Akakura Onsen 2. The latter looks more likely, with my trusty car thermometer telling me it was 1 degree down in town near the highway.

More extremes in the weather look likely ahead, too, form rain mid-week to much colder temperature and the chance of some more serious snow a little later. It seems like it's been crazy most everywhere, and Myoko is no exception!
