New snowfall at base 3cm
Snowfall at base this season 499cm
Posted on Friday 29th December 2017 This is an archived report. The latest Myoko Now report can be found here.
A little sun to start the day, a little fresh added on the monster dump of the past few days. The TV weather people had a wonderful animated map showing a bunch of white stuff moving in, especially during the afternoon. The wind is still blowing pretty hard offshore from the northwest, although it’s pretty calm up here on the hill.
If you’re on the No. 2 lift at Akakan, or heading down toward the gondola at Suginohara, look at the trees: there are several kumadana, or bear’s nests, right net to the slope/lift (don’t worry, our furry buddies are asleep in this good cold). They say there are more bears; they like to stay up in the trees for most of the day in the summer; and they like a perch with a view. Your nature note for Dec. 29, 2017.
