Independent snow and weather reporting from the Myoko region of Niigata
New snowfall at base 7cm
Snowfall at base this season 1617cm
Posted on Thursday 28th March 2019 This is an archived report. The latest Myoko Now report can be found here.
It was a dark and stormy night.... Pretty blustery last evening, with lightning, thunder, strong winds blowing everything everywhere. And wake up to find that the rain at some point became snow. Which is still falling, and actually pretty steadily as we put this report out. Maybe a few more cms through the day? Again, I saw a lot of people getting ahead of themselves and pulling the snow tires off. Good luck out there! It's not that much, so they're probably OK, especially once they head down the hill and get a little lower. It's pretty wet snow up here, so I bet it's rain in the Arai part of Myoko, and on to Joetsu City.
I need to get this report out a little early today, but boy are the resorts slow in getting out their reports! Sorry, readers... Just assume it's a little colder than yesterday, and the snow depths probably won't change much or at all.
