Independent snow and weather reporting from the Myoko region of Niigata

New snowfall at base 14cm
Snowfall at base this season 171cm

Posted on Wednesday 27th December 2023 This is an archived report. The latest Myoko Now report can be found here.

A pleasant surprise this morning, with a nice fall of pretty heavy snow. Good for building up that base, right? Getting a little concerned about the snow conditions, so it's great to have any extra added.

Looks like we could have a really big fall on New Year's Day, too; looking at the long forecast, and it could be rain leading into it, but I want to see some heavy, real Myoko-style stuff coming down.

Sun and blue skies? Highly overrated, in my opinion (as regular readers know). Heavy snow, poor visibility, make those real skiers happy.
