Nature has a way of surprising us, doesn't it?
I had to leave early yesterday, didn't think much would happen (so neglecting the report for one day is OK, right?) and then it decides to snow.
And snow.
And it's still snowing!
I got a report from a friend high up on the mountain: 60 to 70cm of light powder up there. This could be the best snowfall of the year. After most people have left, and we thought it was time to get the canoe out. He did add that it's pretty sluffy, too, lower down in the backcountry, so be a little careful (don't go alone, have all your safety gear). Should be great on the groomers, too, even if it is a little bit heavy.
The wind has picked up a bit as well; there's a pretty strong north wind blowing offshore and up over the mountains (and therefore snow). I guess we should enjoy this while we can; the freeze level will be heading back up to around 2,000 meters, and rain is back on the forecast around Wednesday.
Happy to say it, but the snowpack reports are in the positive.
