Independent snow and weather reporting from the Myoko region of Niigata
New snowfall at base 45cm
Snowfall at base this season 986cm
Posted on Thursday 24th January 2019 This is an archived report. The latest Myoko Now report can be found here.
A lot of lightening and thunder last night, a sign that snow would be falling.
And it did, and more than expected (again).
Lots of blowing and drifting which also made the snow pretty dense. Could be some tough skiing offpiste except where it's steep (and this stuff could sluff, too, so be careful in the chutes and valleys!).
Excellent base now, though, with lots of places reaching 3 meters (exactly what I have outside on the big pole I set up to measure the total).
