Independent snow and weather reporting from the Myoko region of Niigata

New snowfall at base 14cm
Snowfall at base this season 821cm

Posted on Monday 22nd January 2018 This is an archived report. The latest Myoko Now report can be found here.

The snow has started; not a whole lot of new stuff here at base, but the first bit of what we hope will be a lot more snow. Kind of weird to have wind from the east, and heavier cloud cover to the south and east than to the (more common) north and west.

Tomorrow could be pretty wild, though, as a huge low pressure cell moves in and the wind really picks up.

Keep an eye for lift closures if the predicted 70kph winds materialize in the afternoon.
