Independent snow and weather reporting from the Myoko region of Niigata

New snowfall at base 7cm
Snowfall at base this season 146cm

Posted on Wednesday 22nd December 2021 This is an archived report. The latest Myoko Now report can be found here.

Rain late last night has now turned to snow; the temperature is going down and the snow is starting to build up again (not much yet, but the day has just started). Good timing, too; the conditions are great on the hill for skiing, but we could see a few spots where the grass was poking out or a little dirt was streaking the surface (again, no complaints for any skiing before Christmas!). Hope to come back to you tomorrow with a great big number for the total 24-hour snowfall!

The wind is picking up, I should add, and visibility is not very good at base level.
