Independent snow and weather reporting from the Myoko region of Niigata

New snowfall at base 3cm
Snowfall at base this season 74cm

Posted on Thursday 21st December 2023 This is an archived report. The latest Myoko Now report can be found here.

The national forecasts gave the likelihood of heavy snow today, but it hasn't hit yet. Another dusting overnight, and it's snowing but bright at the moment.

The only change at the resorts is that Lotte Arai looks like it will open the Sanroku No. 1 lift, down at the bottom of the hill. A place to conduct beginners' lessons (and I know lots of area ski schools are going to Lotte Arai because, well, there's nowhere else to ski).
