Independent snow and weather reporting from the Myoko region of Niigata
New snowfall at base 10cm
Snowfall at base this season 132cm
Posted on Sunday 19th December 2021 This is an archived report. The latest Myoko Now report can be found here.
The snow has picked up again this morning. Nice, a bit unexpected (it feels like we don't get a lot of consecutive snow days) and helping those ski areas as they open. Not a huge amount of snow overnight, but the plows did run early in the morning. I wondered if it was a bit of an early-season practice run; a lot of times the city (versus prefectural) streets don't get plowed until 30cm or more fall. Or something like that.
It's cold, too. Got to about -9° at 10pm last night, and a cold morning. Also good, especially considering how much the temperature has been dancing around.
And ski areas are starting to open, so time for me to give you the latest information and think about making a few turns myself!
