Independent snow and weather reporting from the Myoko region of Niigata

New snowfall at base 40cm
Snowfall at base this season 99cm

Posted on Monday 16th December 2013 This is an archived report. The latest Myoko Now report can be found here.

Snow and some pretty strong winds overnight.

Officially another 40cm, and that sounds about right, looking at the fall around the house (at the base of lovely Akakura Kanko resort).

I haven't got the town report yet today, but I think it's time to get out and burn off the results of the last end-of-the-year party.

With the wind up, though, there's always the chance that the gondola will slow/stop, although the sind seems to have come down a lot in the last hour.

Akakura Kanko Ski Area: Gondola and No. 5 lift
