Independent snow and weather reporting from the Myoko region of Niigata

New snowfall at base 6cm
Snowfall at base this season 719cm

Posted on Tuesday 12th January 2021 This is an archived report. The latest Myoko Now report can be found here.

The snow tapered off during the day yesterday, and the wind has swung around to the WSW. Neatly froze up the rotors in my "peter" (the local term for a snowthrower), which made for a long morning already: the roof of the house was in need of being cleared or we would be living in a dark cave (the roof clears itself, but the debris pile up along the side of the house).

Anyway, got that done well enough to join you for the daily report.

Which is: gray, warmer, bit of a breeze, no snow at the moment and a steady barometer.
