Independent snow and weather reporting from the Myoko region of Niigata

New snowfall at base 12cm
Snowfall at base this season 1180cm

Posted on Thursday 11th February 2021 This is an archived report. The latest Myoko Now report can be found here.

Got a bit of unexpected snow overnight; just a bit to keep the snowpack alive and growing.

The weather is clearly changing as we get the report ready to go. The wind was coming in from the WSW earlier, but we have fog rolling in from the sea (and the north) and down the valley below Mt. Myoko. Thought the snow was going to stop, but it's still gently coming down right now.

Wouldn't mind another good snow day, because it looks like another cycle of warm then cold and snow is coming.
