Independent snow and weather reporting from the Myoko region of Niigata
New snowfall at base 23cm
Snowfall at base this season 663cm

It started slow this morning, but the snow is really coming down now. We were in something like the eye of a hurricane, people said yesterday. The coastline got absolutely pounded — the prefectural TV news said that Joetsu got 283 cm, although I think that's for the entire storm cycle (but still shockingly deep).
We had some blue skies and a few snow showers through the day, but no major accumulation until this morning. Not going to say no to 23cm and counting, though....
We did get confirmation on some slowdown of lifts and facilities at Kanko:
The Myokokogen Sky Cable gondola will not operate on:
January 12, 13, 18, 19, 20
February 3, 8, 9, 10, 12, 15, 16, 17, 18, 22, 24, 25, 26
Cafe Primos will be closed:
January 13, 19, 20, 27
February 2, 9, 10, 16, 17, 24, 25
And all lifts will close at 3:30
