Independent snow and weather reporting from the Myoko region of Niigata
New snowfall at base 6cm
Snowfall at base this season 595cm
Posted on Monday 10th February 2020 This is an archived report. The latest Myoko Now report can be found here.
A cold, mostly clear morning today after yesterdays' monster snow. The snow is sparkly and beautiful. Good decision, people who decided to take Monday off for a four-day weekend.
I found it kind of interesting that, while we actually under-reported what we found yesterday (knowing that we did have some blowing), the ski resorts almost uniformly under-report on big snow days.
And they over-report on low days.
I guess they might not want to scare away the recreational skiers, but this is the time of powder, right?
Anyway, we promise to be honest.
