Independent snow and weather reporting from the Myoko region of Niigata

New snowfall at base 20cm
Snowfall at base this season 1236cm

Posted on Tuesday 10th February 2015 This is an archived report. The latest Myoko Now report can be found here.

My apologies for the late report - there has been some mid-season madness going on this morning!

The very heavy snow that we were sort of expecting... kind of missed us a bit, going just to the north of us here in the main Myoko area. If the Arai resort was still open, they'd have got dumped on!

Even so, there's a good 20cm at base and I am hearing from colleagues of maybe even up to about 1m of fresh snowfall very high up above 1600m.

It's quite nice now with very light snow falling but keeping quite bright. It's a little warmer than yesterday and we expect it to warm up further tomorrow along with some sunshine for the national holiday that it is. Expect things to be busier than a normal Wednesday because of those things.

Snow should be back falling by Friday!
