Independent snow and weather reporting from the Hakuba region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 2cm
Snowfall at base this season 465cm

Posted on Tuesday 7th March 2017 This is an archived report. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here.

As forecast, after a mild yesterday it is colder this morning and there has been some fresh snow. I was out of Hakuba last night so I can't report first hand on what happened there - but I am happy to see some snow this morning.

Not a huge amount - around 2cm - and resorts reporting between that and up to 10cm at higher elevations but hopefully we will see more falling today and tomorrow and indeed the snow clouds are due to be on hand right through until Friday so it will be interesting to see what we can get out of them.

Looks like some restricted visibility out on the slopes early morning - close to white-out in some places. Take care out there.
