Independent snow and weather reporting from the Hakuba region of Nagano
New snowfall at base 5cm
Snowfall at base this season 463cm
Posted on Friday 3rd March 2017 This is an archived report. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here.
Light snow started falling higher up around lunch time yesterday though not amounting to much.
But this morning - fresh snow! Yes, it's always good to be able to report fresh snow and this morning while there's just a bit at lower levels, resorts are reporting up to 20cm of fresh snow in places so 'head high' would be the advice this morning.
Can't see much of the mountains at all this morning as they are covered in snow clouds and visibility looks generally rather poor out there. If it means more snow, I'm all for it. But take care if you are venturing out.
Having said that, the forecasts don't seem to be indicating that this snowfall will continue for much longer. Some even showing some sunshine for later on in the day.
Weather for the weekend? Probably sunshine and mild conditions.
Good to see snow lined up on the forecast for early week again though so the snow will be back.
