Independent snow and weather reporting from the Hakuba region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 12cm
Snowfall at base this season 477cm

Posted on Wednesday 8th March 2017 This is an archived report. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here.

Morning from Hakuba. Fresh snow! Here's the headlines:

Hakuba 47: 25cm since yesterday evening (plus 15cm during the day yesterday)

Hakuba Goryu: 5-15cm

Hakuba Happo-one: 10cm top Riesen; 20cm by groomers

Hakuba Cortina: 10-20cm

So there's a mixed bunch of numbers there but the most important thing being that there's a decent layer of fresh snow out there on the slopes.

We are measuring 12cm to go on our report.

Great to see snow on the ground again - but (as always of course) we want more!

Clouds still over the mountains and still snowing up there with limited visibility in many resort areas, but latest local forecast seem to indicate any snow falling on mountain should ease off though we're due more snow overnight and through tomorrow.
