Independent snow and weather reporting from the Hakuba region of Nagano
New snowfall at base 3cm
Snowfall at base this season 423cm
Posted on Sunday 6th April 2014 This is an archived report. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here.
It's another chilly start to the day and it should be keeping quite cold today.
A lot of cloud remained with us yesterday but we did get some blue sky as well and the sun was out for lots of the afternoon.
On to this morning and we had some very light snow slowly falling earlier this morning and resorts have a bit more to report with a slight dusting at base:
Happo-one: 5cm (Riesen)
Hakuba Goryu: 3cm
Hakuba 47: 1cm around base; 5cm up top
Hakuba Cortina: 1cm
Looks like early on the mountains are shrouded in cloud (fog?) and visibility is poor, though I would expect there's a good chance that it might clear up again similarly to yesterday. Light snow showers possible during the today.
We're expecting things to start warming up again from tomorrow and there will very probably be lots of sun in the coming week.
Last day of the season for Hakuba Cortina today.
