Snowfall at base this season 420cm
Posted on Saturday 5th April 2014 This is an archived report. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here.
Good morning from Hakuba and the snow we were hoping for has arrived, well sort of. Just sprinklings at base - roads are clear - but resorts reporting fresh snow on the mountains.
Here's what the resorts are reporting this morning...
Happo-one: 5+cm
Hakuba Goryu: 3cm at Toomi; 10cm up top
Hakuba 47: 1cm around base; 5cm up top
Hakuba Cortina: 15-20cm
Cortina doing well with up to 20cm up there, looks like more like 5-10cm around the Hakuba hills. It's much better than 0cm that's for sure! And it is certainly colder than it has been this morning.
It's not snowing now and just cloudy really. Some hints of blue sky even so it might clear up. Snow clouds may stick in the region though through tomorrow so we might get a bit more out of this.
Once we get to Monday it would seem warmer conditions and sun will be back, so this really might just be the last snow we see this season.
