Independent snow and weather reporting from the Hakuba region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 3cm
Snowfall at base this season 293cm

Posted on Monday 30th January 2017 This is an archived report. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here.

A spell of no fresh snowfall for a few days.

I had some fresh (though rather heavy and wet) snow to report, from myself and from the resorts themselves:

My observation at base: 3cm

Hakuba 47: 5-10cm

Hakuba Goryu: 3-10cm

Hakuba Happo-one: 0cm

Hakuba Cortina: 0cm

...but unfortunately, it's now raining here in the village. But, happily it is snowing at higher elevations.

Yesterday by around mid-afternoon cloud have covered most of the sky above the village with snow starting to fall once dark.

And so here we are this morning. We are hoping and expecting things to get colder as the day progresses and remaining rain to turn into decent snowfall down to base once again. Hopefully sometime this morning - with me being able to report more snow in my next report.

Until then!
