Independent snow and weather reporting from the Hakuba region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 10cm
Snowfall at base this season 494cm

Posted on Friday 20th February 2015 This is an archived report. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here.

Another fairly mild morning in Hakuba but happy to report some fresh snow on the ground and varying amounts being reported by the resorts. I'm particularly interested in that +40cm that Hakuba Norikura resort seem to be reporting this morning...

Lots of cloud around this morning and there's some spectacular cloud scenery from the higher slopes of Happo-one with the lift rising above the clouds. So want to be there right now!

Variable visibility depending on where you are especially with these changing conditions.

We should get some more snow today - there's even a heavy snowfall warning out for the region this morning - before the skies clear up for sunny conditions tomorrow and continued warming up on Sunday along with... a good (or is that 'bad') chance of rain.

Once we get past that, we can hope for a quick return to colder conditions.
