New snowfall at base 17cm
Snowfall at base this season 600cm
Posted on Saturday 6th February 2016 This is an archived report. The latest Furano Now report can be found here.
It is all good news to report from Furano this morning. There has been a significant dump of snow with total measured accumulation of 17cm in the village. Out on the mountain it would be reasonable to expect 30+cm I think. Summed up in 2 words...powder day. If you have access to fat skis this is definitely the day to strap them on and go looking for some face shots. You shouldn't have too much difficulty finding the pow though.
The wind is non existent, and in the last half hour the skies have gone from full overcast to broken cloud, and the sun is now beaming through. Temperatures are nice and cold and back to wintery norms. There is no snow falling at the moment but light snow is predicted to fall during the day. Strongish winds are still on the forecast for tomorrow, but the wind forecasts haven't come true for the last couple of days. There is also the possibility of another good dump of snow from Sunday afternoon onwards!
It is the last day of ski competitions for this week. Course closures are:
Giant
Azelia
Junior
