Happy New Year's Eve Skiers and Snowboarders,
Things are looking great today. Only 10 cm so far, but there is a "Heavy Snow Advisory" in effect for the whole day today. Such wonderful words. Of course, in weather man context, "heavy snow" means lots of snow, which is good; not crappy heavy snow, which is bad.
More importantly, my fine tuned local Spidey-sense says it's gonna be a fair amount of snow. It's just coming down in a normal Furano-winter sort of way. Not tentative. Just snowing. And snowing...
Gondola closed this morning due to wind. It may open this afternoon.
Night skiing is available on both sides of the resort every night until 7:30 every night through January 5th.
On to fireworks! The New Prince Hotel puts on an awesome fireworks show every New Year's Eve, beginning at the stroke of midnight. The fun and festivities begin at 10:00 PM near the base of the Ropeway in the Furano Zone. See flying lanterns, color torch ski parade, and my favorite, snowcat rides (10:30-11:00 only. Line up early.).
Keep thinking snow.
Gondola Closed due to wind. May open in afternoon.
All other lifts open except, of course, Kitanomine magic carpet.
