Independent snow and weather reporting from the Furano region of Hokkaido

New snowfall at base 4cm
Snowfall at base this season 173cm

Posted on Saturday 28th December 2019 This is an archived report. The latest Furano Now report can be found here.

It is looking like it will be a good day ahead. We are starting off with a top up of 4cm of very light fresh snow in the village. While there is some early morning cloud this will likely lift and we should see the sun. The recent cold temps are keeping the snow on the mountain fresh and the new snow will help improve things. Unfortunately the lower Kitanomine slopes are too thin to open, but overall there is a good variety of terrain available.
