Independent snow and weather reporting from the Furano region of Hokkaido
New snowfall at base 8cm
Snowfall at base this season 471cm
Posted on Sunday 17th February 2019 This is an archived report. The latest Furano Now report can be found here.
It is snowing moderately with large flakes coming down. Looking at my thermometer it is showing +1c, and that warmth is evidenced by the fresh snow on the cars going to water and the sound of drips coming off roofs. Despite the warm temperature the snow is still surprisingly light and there has been a respectable 8cm of accumulation so far. Looking up at the mountain visibility does not look good, but there will be plenty of fresh snow to enjoy as long as you can see where you are going.
