Independent snow and weather reporting from the Furano region of Hokkaido

New snowfall at base 17cm
Snowfall at base this season 499cm

Posted on Tuesday 16th February 2021 This is an archived report. The latest Furano Now report can be found here.

We received a full day of rain yesterday along with mild temperatures. By evening this turned the roads and footpaths around town into very slippery surfaces.

Early morning that rain has transformed into snow and there is 17cm of accumulation on the ground in town. The snow is extremely wet and heavy, and will provide a good layer to start to repair the rain damage.

It is now 0c and will get colder during the day, heading back to a wintery -12c.

The resort is open but lift operations may be affected due to the effect of rain and wet snow - best to check directly with the resort for the latest updates.
