I think this might have been covered before, but I can't quite find it, so here goes.

 

Do you pay into the Japanese pension scheme? You know the one that is about 13000 yen a month (does that vary with regions?). I know many full time workers have that paid automatically and there ain't nothing that can be done, but what about self-employed people etc. Do you get hassled to pay it?

 

And when we get old and still in Japan, what can we claim?

It gets paid out of my salary (I work at a school), I have no choice.
