giggsy 0
I read this in another thread and it reminded me of something I read in a Japan book somewhere not so long ago. Do these burakumin people really exist? Whats the deal?

Ocean11 0
All I know about the burakumin comes from reading Karel Van Wolferen and Patrick Smith. And the only anecdote I've heard in some 14 years living here; an English teacher at a school I worked at said her sister married one, and her parents disowned her, so she (the teacher) disowned her parents. How it turned out I can't remember.
sunrise 0
A quick google will give you all the info you require. I knew of Ainu discrimination, but I'd never heard of burakumin before. I had no idea this discrimination existed. It's shocking.
