anngrote 0 Posted November 19, 2006 Share Posted November 19, 2006 Hey there SnowJapan Folks! My buddies and I are headed to Japan for a month in Feb and have 3 weeks of it to ski. Were looking for advice (and local's favorites if your willing to share ) about where to go. We are experienced backcountry skiers looking for powder, steeps, and off-piste access. Nightlife, big resorts, and nice hotels are not a priority; Good terrain, deep snow, and onsens are! So far we are looking at spending a week in Hokkaido (Asahidake seems like a good fit), then a week in Hakkoda. The third week is up in the air and we are wondering if it is worth it to head to the Nagano area (Hakuba perhaps) or just stay longer in Hokkaido to begin with? From you hard-charging folks out there, what would you recommend? Also any info on nice, affordable lodging would be much appreciated! Thanks for the help, and let it snow, snow, snow!
