Why is the 'Forgotten Niseko' thread closed?

...Because unfortunately the thread was degenerating into an unpleasant exchange - and seemingly very personal. All posters were also unregistered users. Those last few posts have now gone. It almost never happens (a handful of times over the last 6 months), but we took the decision to close it.

SJG have you considered making the forum availible to only registered users so that you are able avoid this situation-which I unfortunately missed. It's always good to read heated exchanges of opinion between users who have to be mindful of staying within certain boundries lest their posting privilages are canned. An interesting can of worms isn't it?

Thanks for posting. Yes, we have considered that and it's one of the things that's on the table for the coming months.

 

We absolutely agree that it's good to read heated exchanges of opinion - nothing against that of course, and in fact we actively encourage it.

 

But the posts that were appearing on this thread were of a very personal nature, and it was turning nasty. So we thought it best to delete them and close that particular thread.
